Great Day for a Race.....

The sun finally came out for the 4^th Annual Risedale SSP Cross Country Event held on 4^th March, with 900 runners turning out to contest the 8 individual races as well as the boys and girls team races across the four age groups.

Catterick Racecourse kindly hosted the event for the second year providing a great backdrop for the fiercely contested races with expert pace setting by the partnerships very own Ross Cooper.

Richmond Schools BTEC students and young leaders from the Wensleydale School provided marshalling, finish and start duties making the event run smoothly and much needed first aid support from the Red Cross ensured all runners got safely to the finish line.

Teas and Coffees sold to parents raised £36 to be split between the Spinal Injuries Charity and the fund for a Sports Wheelchair for Ben Symonds from Bedale High.

Final congratulations to everyone who took part in the ‘Donkey Derby’ aka the Staff Race – what a great turn out, hopefully we’ll be able to have a school team race next year following the example set by Ravensworth School.
